If Video Killed the Radio Star, then Reality TV Killed MTV

February 9, 2010

In a move that should have been done years ago, because it had turned into a running joke, MTV has changed their iconic logo and removed the “Music Television” from underneath it. You see kids, back in the day MTV used to play music videos. In fact, that’s what they were known for.

Now that I think about it, I don’t remember the last time I actually turned it to MTV and expected to see anything music related.

With the success of crappy reality shows such as Jersey Shore, 16 and Pregnant and The Hills, plus the cancellation of TRL, it was way past due.

With MTV2 being their half-assed attempt to hang on to a music channel, I’m sure that will take a shit to crappy programming too. Good job everybody, it really took everyone working together to fuck that station up.

In the meantime, VH1 Classic has remastered and updated their Behind the Music series – you should watch it. It’s good.
