Frank Mir’s Still a Douche

February 24, 2010

Foot and mouth could soon turn to fist in mouth if Brock Lesnar gets a hold of him again.  The other day, Frank Mir graced the Mark Madden show on 105.9 The X the other day and his mouth is pissing off more than just Lesnar, UFC President Dana White has also joined in on the party.

Mir talked about how he’s working with a strength coach and putting on size in anticipation for a rematch with Brock, assuming he gets past Shane Carwin on March 27th.  He also talked about how he’ll stand-up with Lesnar all day and isn’t concerned at all about his stand-up game, because he hasn’t knocked anyone out yet (In Lesnar’s defense, and I really do try to see two sides to the story, he hasn’t faced any stroke fighters since his debut and was about 5 seconds from making Mir eat Jello the rest of his life during their last fight – but whatever.).  Those aren’t the comments that are ruffling the feathers, this is…

“I wanna fight Lesnar.  I hate who he is as a person. I want to break his neck in the ring.  I want him to be the first person to die due to a octagon related injury.”

The UFC has worked very hard over the years to try to take MMA to a respectable level of clean competition by regulating it to prevent any major injuries or deaths.  So, after Mir said what he said, you can bet everyone within a 3 mile radius of Dana White heard his thoughts on the matter.

“Mir” quickly release the following statement (a standard, forced apology) on UFC.com

“I would like to apologize to Brock Lesnar, his family, the UFC and the UFC fans for my stupid remarks,” said Mir. “I respect Brock, all the other fighters, and the sport of mixed martial arts. I’m sorry that I stepped out of line.”

Dana White issued this response…

“I was disappointed by Frank Mir’s comments,” said White. “Frank’s been with the UFC a long time, he’s a two-time heavyweight champion and a commentator for the WEC.  I think his emotions are running high right now, he has a big fight coming up next month and he’s still upset about his loss to Lesnar.  He’s been talked to, he regrets what he said, and he won’t be saying anything like that again.”

Mark Madden also claimed that Frank Mir’s fanbase is one of the largest in the sport and that he is one of the top 3 heavyweights in the world along with Fedor and Brock, so obviously he knows dick about MMA and should go back to calling pro wrestling…on second thought, don’t.
