New Olympic Event Pitch = Mud Wrestling

February 25, 2010

In what feels like a scene from The Brady Bunch, all we have been hearing about during the 2010 Olympics is “Lindsey, Lindsey, Lindsey”. But what about the tiara wearing Silver Medalist in the Women’s Downhill and Super-Combined, Slalom Julia Mancuso? She’s just as good, if not better. But obviously needs a different PR person.

Lindsey Vonn has had the cover of Sports Illustrated and also was  included in the Swimsuit Issue. Mancuso on the other hand, although a world-class skier in her own right, was a relative unknown going into the 2010 games.

When I first saw Mancuso I was puzzled, cause you could easily argue that she was the hotter of the two, yet I knew nothing of her.  Then she donned the tiara at the medal ceremony and I thought along with everyone else “What the fuck is with that?”.  Little did I know that was her gimmick, not that she was an arrogant daddy’s little princess (maybe she is).  The tiara is her signature thing, and with that also the inspiration for her line of women’s underwear…!  Who’s the cooler one now?

Are they friends or aren’t they? Look people, just because you play for the Buffalo Bills, does that automatically make Terrell Owens your friend? No. Teammates for a common goal? Yes…in most cases. But unlike football, no matter what T.O. thinks, the Olympics are also an individual sport.

Mancuso posted this on her Facebook page yesterday…

“I just want to share with everyone a little insight on the story about mine and Lindsey’s relationship. Here is a profile where Lindsey says “We’re friendly, but not friends” and you know what?? I don’t really care, Lindsey doesn’t really care.. I know I can speak for us both when I say we are both stoked when there is an American on the podium, no matter who that is. Of course we both want to win.. but the truth is, everyone else seems to be more concerned about how we get along than we even think about it. We are all out there to ski fast and have fun. So save the drama for your mama!”

Not sure what mama drama has to do with it.  But regardless, I think we’re all winners in the end.
